How feng shui can give you a better day today

Use feng shui to "go with the flow".

The feng shui calendar informs us of great compatibility between today’s Dragon and this month’s Rooster signs. According to the book of wisdom, most things are favourable and to make a good day even better, it recommends the following:

·         Asking for blessings, a good day for divination or to put your dreams into action.
·         Visiting friends or even making new ones.
·         Hair and beauty treatments are well aspected.
·         Cleanliness is next to etc… so sweeping house and tidying loose ends is especially good.
·         Travelling or even emigrating – new friends on the horizon?
·         Partnerships are also well favoured, so a good day for marriage.
·         Have an astrology reading and discover alternative horizons perhaps?
·         Opening a business and trading. Today's best prospects should be found north of where you are now.
·         Refurbishing a home or office, laying foundations or even fixing a roof  also works.
·         Buying a bed or setting its direction and a great day to improve your bedroom.
·         Funeral duties, meditating or honouring ancestors and a day of respect to friends past and present.

It is best not to have much to do with water today, especially installing it, sailing on it or fixing boats and nets.

Chinese astrology tells us it is a day of “Winnowing Basket”, which especially favours the arts. It also tells us that tomorrow is a good day. Check back then and feel free to tell your friends to join you.

See you then!

Cock-and-bull story?

A bit of a clash today, but memorable for Rooster signs or during teatime.

It’s a bit chaotic today, particularly on the roads, due to it being a Fire Ox day which clashes with the annual Water influence affecting flow.  Mind you, two different Feng Shui techniques also combine to form a “Broken + Carriage” day and it might be wise to pack a spare and add more time to your journey, after all why tempt fate?

On the subject of which, our partial title refers to the possibility of breakages and according to destiny as interpreted by the Feng Shui almanac, success comes only from taking something apart or even refurbishing. It advises against opening a business or having a haircut, presumably because it’s somewhat difficult to repair crockery (or stick hair back on for that matter).

However there is a saving grace, as today's Ox (bull) and this year’s Snake sign unite to bring a very strong metal influence to Rooster (cock) signs; hence the cock and bull story. Coincidentally, the Rooster hour affects us all around tea time, that’s 5-7pm, which could be really good and you should see our attribute cycle to see how this personally affects you. Maybe a china shop wouldn’t be a bad thing after all?

Regardless of your sign, you should also see our dedicated Fire Ox web page to see how you are affected. It’s a better day tomorrow and better still on Friday, so until then until then, enjoy every moment of NOW!

Of Snakes and Crows?

I was going to begin today's blog with a bit about health and how Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) specialists can tell how well you are just by looking at your face. Being an Earth Snake day, where yellow is the colour traditionally associated with the earth element and Yellow Snake relates to health, you can see how I was so inspired.

This Yellow Snake is an important Form School principle and actually refers to the Sun; the source of health in our solar system. In Feng Shui, it corresponds to the centre of our homes and businesses, which should be kept clear, clean and well supported.

Interestingly, some TCM practitioners use these same principles and the Yellow Snake refers to the nose. Just by using the Five Elements and comparing skin colour and blemishes, they begin to formulate their diagnosis and make their recommendations.

Again on the subject of health and moving this time from Snakes to Crows, the Chinese almanac reliably informs us that today is the start of the Pinellia ternate or Crow-dipper planting season. It’s unusual for the book of nature to remind us of when to plant a specific variety, so it must be pretty important. Research informs us that it’s prescribed in Traditional Chinese Medicine to treat obesity and is perhaps why few Chinese people suffer from this problem. However, this plant is toxic in its raw form and must first be processed before being prescribed for morning sickness, nausea, coughs, influenza (flu) and swine flu, as well as pain and swelling (inflammation).

The other Chinese almanac recommendations are free of health warnings and if you want to be in the flow today, it suggests meditating or honouring ancestors, filling cracks and refurbishment, laying foundations, buying or setting a direction for your oven, and oddly enough, planting seeds. Anyone for Crow-dipping?

If Earth Snake is found in the day pillar of your Chinese horoscope, you must either be a gardener or … a TCM specialist. Seriously though, Earth Snake people have a very expressive way with words that can eventually bring great prosperity. Natural magnetism adds to their self-confidence and attracts others, which is just as well as they are probably a “people person” and perhaps a party animal. Famous celebrities include Barack Obama, Charles Dickens (day), Cate Blanchett, Corbin Bleu, Chris Brown, Joe Cocker, Rudolph Giuliani, Cee Lo Green, Jewel, Billy Joel, Gladys Knight, Lenny Kravitz, George Lucas, Rory McIlroy, Alyson Michalka, Morrissey, Barak Obama, Frank Oz, Daniel Radcliffe, Randy Travis, Rick Wakeman and Mark Zuckerber.

See our dedicated Earth Snake web page and discover how your own Chinese astrology sign will fare today and we should return tomorrow. Until then, enjoy every moment of NOW!

Enter; the Dragon!

A day of new beginnings, perhaps leading to hidden treasures?

I like a title that works on many levels and today is no exception. Firstly, it’s a Wood Dragon day and this particular type of Wood denotes a new heavenly cycle, therefore entering a new cycle. And secondly... it’s a Dragon day!

But that’s pretty obvious, so there must be something else happening too. Well in the Twelve Palaces system of divination, today is an Open day that makes it appropriate to enter a new phase and do new things such as taking a course. The Chinese almanac also recommends meditating or honouring ancestors, having a haircut, getting engaged, having an astrology reading, emigrating or fixing a roof.

It advises against laying foundations or opening a warehouse, but that’s because it’s also a  Ghost day in the 28 Lunar mansion system, and you don’t want long term endeavours to return to haunt you, do you?

We started with news of a heavenly cycle and we end with news of another, namely tomorrow’s New Moon, traditionally a time to start new ventures. I am reminded that as “one door opens, another closes” and sadly the 1973 film of Enter the Dragon was the last made by legendary Bruce Lee. However, it marked the start of Jackie Chan’s’ career, who was actually also born under the Dragon influence.

If like other Wood Dragon celebrities such as Matt Dillon, Juliette Binoche, Russell Crowe , Lenny Kravitz , Sandra Bullock, Clive Owen, Joss Stone, Tom Clancy, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Seth Rogan, Leonardo Da Vinci, Jennifer Garner, Maria Sharapova and Kirsten Dunst, you would like to discover what today has in store for your Chinese zodiac sign, please see our dedicated Wood Dragon web page.

As we are teaching this weekend we will return from next Wednesday. Until then, enjoy every moment of NOW!
