Lucky day of the year?

I’ve had a tendency all week to state the obvious and as today is a Water Dragon, the same energy as the annual sign, so quite literally it is the “day of the year”. Furthermore, as Dragons are highly compatible with this month’s sign of Rooster, it is… “lucky” too!

If it’s been a good year for you so far, today can be akin to the “cherry on top”. However if 2012 hasn’t been so great, you may find assistance on our dedicated Water Dragon web page.

The Chinese almanac supports most activities and may bring success to meditation or honouring ancestors, asking for blessings, travelling, getting married, having an astrology reading, buying or making clothes, emigrating, opening a  business and trading, refurbishing a home or office, laying foundations, fixing a roof, buying or setting direction for your bed or setting up a tombstone.

We will return on Tuesday. Until then enjoy every moment of NOW.

Well broken Rabbit?

A bizarre title if ever I heard one but it literally sums up today's influences. Consequently, I hope that our Rabbits found “wonderland” hinted at in yesterday’s blog entitled “Through the rabbit hole?” as today may have the opposite effect.

Literally following the order of today's title, it is a “Well” day in the 28 Lunar Mansions making it a great day for education. However, unless you want to learn from your mistakes, it is best to make all serious decisions tomorrow.

In the 12 stations it is also a “Broken” day, suitable only for taking things apart and redecorating or redesigning.

Finally it is a Metal Rabbit day which clashes with the month sign of Rooster in what is known as a “day break”. This can cause a lot of stress and confusion for Rabbits and is best settled with the water element, such as communication, wearing black or dark blue colours, eating salty flavours, or being by or in water. As I look outside my window it is STILL raining, so that supports most of the bunnies in the UK. What is it like at your end?

To see how your own zodiac sign is affected by these influences, see our dedicated Metal Rabbit web page. We will return tomorrow with a Water Dragon and until then, enjoy every moment of NOW.

Through the rabbit hole?

Today's Metal Tiger is part of the group that includes the annual Dragon sign. However, the Tiger is the beginning phase and without the central part of Rabbit, there’s no correspondence with the Dragon at the end. This void or hole disrupts wood type activities such as networking, strategizing, marketing and charitable affairs, unless of course you have a Rabbit on your team.

Consequently, today could actually be called a “lucky rabbit day” as Rabbits will play a central role in successful ventures. They can enjoy a similar day to the one experienced by Snakes yesterday, as they also completed a group, or Trine as it is known in Chinese astrology.  I am spelling this out as according to the Chinese almanac, today is a good learning day.

As luck would have it, we have a Rabbit on our team who is also involved in learning and taking a course. So if you can’t find a Bunny of your own, call ours to discover our wonderful Feng Shui and Chinese astrology courses. Advertising over, the book of nature also recommends visiting friends, having a haircut, getting engaged, laying foundations, fixing a roof or setting up a tombstone as suitable activities. It advises against fishing or honouring ancestors.

Metal Tiger is potentially the wealthiest of the five different tigers in Chinese astrology. As well as forming a group with Rabbit and Dragon, it also connects to the Horse and Dog and all of these are well supported today.

Tiger is at the centre of attention, Horse is likely to feel extremely lively and can be the recipient of good advice, whilst Dogs are recognised for their hard work. Monkey signs will probably be amongst the most stressed, which they can reduce with a Feng Shui cure of wearing their relaxing colours of black and dark blue, or by being near to or in water. As I gaze through my window at the perpetual downpour currently falling over the UK, that doesn’t seem difficult to achieve.

We will return tomorrow on a Metal Rabbit day, until then, enjoy every moment of NOW.

Snake takes treasure trove

Traditionally we include the daily animal sign in our title, but on this Earth Ox day, we’ve chosen a Snake. Why’s that? Well, those with a Serpent in their Chinese horoscopes will find today truly memorable in one way or another because today's Ox aligns with this month’s Rooster sign and brings a huge metal influence on the Snake.

This Yin Metal influence is likened to buried minerals, including precious metals, hence “treasure”. That term is most appropriate today because in Feng Shui and Chinese astrology, the Ox is associated with the underground storage of metal.

Those born under the Earth Ox influence, particularly when it’s found in a Day Pillar, (see free Chinese horoscope ) have a huge wealth or “trove” of creative and investment talents. This imbues them with certain magnetism and charisma, boosting their confidence and allowing for excellent self-expression. Being strong, healthy and vibrant, their only downfall is their incredible stubbornness. However when harnessed and guided correctly, provides great drive and leads to even greater prosperity.

You may expect today to be auspicious because of this alignment, and you would be correct. The Chinese almanac is smiling with its “red horseshoe” formation, and additionally favours those born under Monkey and Yin Wood signs. The recommended activities for everyone include meditation or honouring ancestors, asking for blessings, visiting friends, travelling, getting engaged or married, exchanging gifts, having an astrology reading, buying or making clothes, emigrating, refurbishing a home or office, laying foundations, fixing a roof, making wine or fermenting and buying or setting a direction for your bed.

To see how your own Chinese zodiac signs fare, please see our dedicated Earth Ox web page. We will return tomorrow on a Metal Tiger day. Until then, enjoy every moment of NOW.

Count your Chickens?

If you were counting chickens or roosters to be more exact, you would notice that there are two; one today as it’s a Wood Rooster day and the other is an Earth Rooster month. Our title alludes to the saying about thinking that you will get something before you actually have it, and just when you thought you knew which way this blog was going, let’s introduce a curve ball.

Did you know that the element of Wood represents sour flavours, whilst Earth is sweet. So to recap chicken…sweet and sour, mmm that’s tonight’s dinner sorted out. A vegetarian option can be umami; the flavour associated with the Rooster’s metal element.

As we are delving into recipes, you can probably tell it’s a slow news day. However I prefer to think of it as a “lull before the storm”, as tomorrow at 2:49 pm UK (13:49 GMT) is the Autumnal Equinox.  Consequently the Chinese almanac recommends quiet reflection and putting your house in order, ready for this year’s fourth quarter. A kitchen is considered as the "heart of the house", so our meal suggestions are not so random after all, are they?

To see how your own Chinese zodiac signs fare, please see our dedicated Wood Rooster web page. We will return on Tuesday and until then, enjoy every moment of NOW.
