Of Rats, Rabbits and Gathering Ghosts…

Being a Fire Rat day in a Rabbit month doesn’t bode too well. It’s not just because there isn’t a lot of love between these signs, the Rabbit feels punished by the Rat and the latter may feel drained by our long eared friend. In addition, the Yang Fire of today clashes with the annual Yang Water sign. However, being a “Ghost” day in the 28 Lunar Mansion or moon phase, may make us wish that tomorrow comes sooner than normal.

Days that are ruled by “Ghosts” are unfavourable and any new projects can end in misfortune. Women that marry on a Ghost day are said to be widows longer than they are wives. But prayers for the dead, memorial services and visits to cemeteries to visit the tombs of ancestors will bring great merit and respect, and honours to one’s descendants.

That said, it isn’t all bad and according to the 12 daily palaces, it’s a “Gather” day. This makes commerce or trade successful, especially for hairdressers, so it’s also good for haircuts. With a well-crafted “barnet”, we should organise matters of a joyful nature so that the time will quickly pass, so says the Chinese almanac.

I mentioned yesterday that a new action cycle started today and we are extremely busy for the next twelve days at least. Consequently, our blog which would normally return on Tuesday will be postponed until our next respite, this may not be until after Easter.

However, we will still update our web site daily.

Until we return, enjoy every moment of NOW!

A Truffle hunters treasure; worth more than its weight in gold!

Gasses, scents and aromas are associated with the wood element and an excellent sense of smell is just one of the attributes of today's Wood Pig. Generally, Pigs love woodland, especially sniffing around tree roots, and those able to find “black gold” or truffles that sell for thousands of dollars an ounce are literally worth more than their weight in gold.

A Wood Pig as part of your personal horoscope can imbue you with a fine sense of smell too and you could carve a career in catering, chemistry or perfume making. It may also explain an ability to find bargains in the most unlikely of places, like the person who found and sold a 3.3 pound truffle for more than $200,000 in 2007. You can discover your personal signs with our free Chinese horoscope and see whether woodland walks may be worth taking a shovel!

In the wider sense, a Wood Pig day may hold unexpected treasures for all and the Chinese almanac suggests taking a course, visiting friends, travelling, having a haircut, buying or making clothes, seeing a doctor or choosing a treatment, emigrating, opening a business and trading, refurbishing a home or office, laying foundations, fixing a roof, buying or setting direction for your bed, opening a watercourse or hunting as suitable activities.

A Pig day in a Rabbit month is always auspicious as both signs are part of the same Chinese astrology group. Consequently, the Chinese almanac is smiling and states that it is especially lucky for Rat signs. To find out how your sign is personally affected, see our dedicated Wood Pig web page. We will return tomorrow on a Fire Rat day; the start of a new action cycle.

Until then, make the most of NOW

Take it easy, let the Dog see the Rabbit at year break

"Let the dog see the rabbit" is a well-known phrase meaning, “let me see what I'm meant to be doing”. It fits on many levels and was a clear winner for today's title. Firstly, it’s a Dragon day in a Rabbit month and as in Chinese astrology they are friends, would normally be auspicious. However, the Dog is clashed with the annual Dragon sign and would benefit from some direction today.

Consequently, the Chinese almanac, the book of nature world renowned for recommendations on what we are all meant to be doing, suggests this Wood Dog day is best for just “taking it easy”. A “year break” favours meditation and contemplation prior to action, so it’s best to postpone decisions until tomorrow, which is an altogether much better day.

Until then, make the most of NOW

Doggone it’s double Dragon day?

Doggone is meant more as an enquiry, rather than a statement, because our canine friends have a pretty healthy survival instinct and today that may be tested. This Dragon year was always going to be, shall we say a “challenging” period for a Dog sign and whatever harm, anguish or frustration they may have endured may be worse on this Earth Dragon day.

Dog signs need to be careful of damaging their shoulders or chest and may see changes at home, work or in their personal life. Mind you Dragon vs Dragon is not ideal for any of us and today's advice from the book of nature is to go “walkies”, have a haircut, sweep home or fill any cracks. In other words, deal with the mundane and not worry about today's qi as it will quickly pass. However, if you are still concerned, see our dedicated Earth Dragon web page to see how your sign will be affected.

Tomorrow is a much better day, and we will see you there.

Until then, enjoy NOW

Hell cat in the kitchen?

Today's Fire Tiger sign would be totally at home in a fire environment, and apparently they don’t come much hotter than hell, hence our title today!

As the fire element is associated with accomplishment, today is generally a good, action packed day where taking a course, travelling, getting engaged, buying or making clothes, signing contracts, opening a business and trading, refurbishing a home or office, laying foundations, fixing a roof, making wine or fermenting, buying or setting direction for your bed and setting up a tombstone are well favoured.

Conversely, the Chinese almanac advises against divining, meditating or setting fires. Oh well, if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

To see how your astrology sign will be affected see our dedicated Fire Tiger web page.

We will return tomorrow which is great too, being a Fire Rabbit day.

Until then, enjoy NOW

Dog day afternoon!

A damp start to today isn’t surprising as it is a Water Dog day and exactly matches the yang water from the month and annual signs. However, of greater significance is that the Dog will be reconciled with the Tiger month sign by the Horse hour this afternoon. Whatever your chart (find out here with our free Chinese horoscope) this alignment can have a huge significance on you. Hopefully it will be as memorable as the classic Al Pacino film mentioned in our title today, but to make sure, you will need to see the effects of fire on your Chinese horoscope using our attribute cycle. This info can be likened to have an inside man helping you, instead of a force arrayed against you.

With the huge amount of fire and water element, the Chinese almanac or book of nature advises caution by meditation and contemplation or sweeping up and keeping still until tomorrow.

To see how today will affect your horoscope see our dedicated Water Dog web page. We will return as usual on Tuesday and the best day during our absence will be Sunday, which also begins the Rabbit monthly sign.

Until then, enjoy NOW
