Little Dippers guide the way; pukka!

Water Rooster is better than an OK day, as its linked with rewards, especially promotion and salary increases.

Traditionally we begin our daily blog by mentioning the Chinese astrology influence of the day. However, today it’s the “Ladle” from the 28 Lunar Mansions that’s gets us underway. This is the constellation that the moon rises in, and known as The Little Bear or Little Dipper. Together with its larger version, The Great Bear or Big Dipper, they guided the way for our ancient predecessors and were the basis of navigation. It therefore seems only fitting that we begin here.

Coincidentally, today's Water Rooster could be considered as a little dipper too, after all it’s a small bird and associated with water. When found within the Chinese almanac it also guides our way, allowing us to “go with the flow” and make the most of the day ahead. Today it recommends meditation or honouring ancestors, taking a course, meditation or honouring ancestors , having a haircut, sweeping house, refurbishing a home or office, laying foundations, fixing a roof, moving home, buying or setting direction for your bed or oven, erecting a statue or funeral duties. The Tong Shu advises against litigation, felling trees or acquiring livestock today.

It’s generally a better than OK day, one might even say good.  Because the “Ladle” shape signifies measuring and distribution it’s associated with rewards, especially in the form of promotion and salary increases.

Interestingly Jamie Oliver was born on this day of the Water Rooster and he’s the most successful TV chef in the world. Part of his charm is “dipping” his fingers and tasting his food; pukka!

What Winter Water?

Today’s new cycle starts with Water Monkey signifying power, performance and ultimately prosperity.

Today's Water Monkey marks one of this year’s high energy days and the official start of Winter in the Chinese almanac or “book of nature”. It certainly seems that most people have a spring in their step today!

Starting another essential energy cycle couldn’t begin with a better zodiac sign or pillar, with today's Water Monkey signifying power, presence and ultimately prosperity. Interestingly, the metal element associated with the Monkey also represents reform and government and when viewed with water, stability and going forward.

However, Metal also indicates constriction and constraint, so the Chinese almanac recommends fixing fences and putting our house in order to be able to grasp future opportunities.  Especially, as the water and metal elements present in today’s Water Monkey sign are extremely compatible, stability and friendship eventually benefits all.

See our dedicated Water Monkey  web page to see how your own zodiac sign fares and we will return tomorrow with a Water Rooster.
Until then, enjoy moment of NOW!

Getting a sheepskin

Find out what makes the best chefs then prepare for tomorrows major...seasoning?

Today's Metal Sheep title refers to getting a degree or diploma, as it’s usually printed on parchment which comes from sheepskin.  Now although we do run accredited diploma courses in feng shui and Chinese astrology, see taking a course, we mean this in a more literal sense. That’s because, today's metal element itself actually refers to skin and according to the Chinese book of nature, tomorrow sees the onset of winter. I therefore suggest that a sheepskin jacket (although faux ) is far more appropriate to help fend off the cold weather.

With such a major cycle starting tomorrow, the Chinese almanac recommends only quiet reflection, meditation or honouring ancestors. It advises against laying foundations or making soy.  I wouldn’t want to mix these activities up as a structure built on recipes is a … cake isn’t it? Maybe it has a deeper more profound meaning and refers to a career in cooking?

On the subject of which, famous chef Gordon Ramsay was born on a much luckier Metal Sheep day and it’s actually his birthday in 2 days’ time. I don’t know what type of cake he will have but I bet he won’t bake it today. In fact, it is his combination of Metal and Earth elements that imbues him with such talent that he is able to create so many complex and flavoursome dishes. What does it do for you? See our dedicated Metal Sheep web page and find out.

We will return tomorrow with a Water Monkey - now that’s what I call a Masterchef ingredient!
Until then, enjoy moment of NOW!

Hunt for Sweet Success?

Orion The HunterToday's title sure needs some explaining but as it’s a good day for learning, “saddle up” and let’s go for a ride. That’s a useful term to begin with as it is actually an Earth Horse day in Chinese astrology and sweetness is the taste associated with th earth element. Ask any Earth Horse person and they’ll probably tell you they’re on first name terms with their dentist due to a sweet tooth.

In the 28 Lunar Mansions system, the moon appears in the constellation of “Orion”, named after a hunter in Greek mythology. As one of the most prominent constellations in the night sky, the Pyramids of Giza are said to be aligned with his belt. If success is what you seek, this influence is said to be good for building or starting new projects, and any work done today whether already underway or just started will be well rewarded.

The Chinese almanac or Tong Shu has an auspicious horseshoe symbol surrounding today's recommendations; not just because it’s a horse day but due to “Success” appearing in another influential system called the 12 palaces or Jian Chu. This enhances most activities, especially  taking a course visiting friends, travelling, getting engaged or married, exchanging gifts, having an astrology reading, seeing a doctor or choosing a treatment, emigrating, opening a  business and trading, refurbishing a home or office, laying foundations, fixing a roof, buying or setting direction for your bed and hunting.

Success and compatibility also comes today by an alignment with today’s Earth Horse Chinese zodiac sign and the monthly Dog sign. This is in itself auspicious, but further enhanced if you have a Tiger in your Chinese astrology chart as the Tiger completes an extremely prominent fire influence. You can easily find out if this is you with our free Chinese horoscope.

Having nearly thirteen million different variations within a Chinese horoscope, it’s difficult to say how this alignment will affect you personally, but take a look at our attribute cycle and follow its instructions. Alternatively, a professional astrology reading will tell you, as well as so much more.

For those without a Tiger in their horoscope, we have a dedicated Earth Horse web page that explains how your own zodiac signs are affected. We will return tomorrow on an Earth Sheep day. Until then, enjoy every moment of NOW.
