As mad as a wet hen at year break

“As mad as a wet hen” is one of my favourite expressions and is most apt on this Water Rooster day. It was said to originate in the Southern Appalachian Mountains and possibly referred to a dowsing process used to get a hen to lay further eggs instead of sitting on her original brood.

“Year break” occurs on every Rooster day in a Rabbit year and especially so this month as it also a Rooster period. The Chinese almanac recommends just sweeping and tidying up and I can’t help thinking that this might be an analogy for clearing up and making a fortune after others mistakes. To be on the safe side, it’s probably best to make any major decisions tomorrow when we emerge from this clash.

That said, a Water Rooster is the least problematic clash, as the water balances the two signs. In this case, Rooster will be the centre of attention and can be quite carefree. It is also good for the associated signs of Snake and Ox, who share creativity. The former also has wealth or wife potential, whilst the latter may have good investment opportunities. Rabbit signs may be under stress today, but share power opportunities with Tigers. Similarly, earth signs of Dragon, Goat and Dog should be relaxed. Conversely, Pig and Rat signs will have lots of energy.

Great self-expression and an acute sense of humour are famous Water Rooster traits and celebrities include John Barry, Corbin Bernsen, Jacqueline Bisset, James Brown, Michael Caine, Michael Douglas, Quincy Jones, Avril Lavigne, Kim Novak, Yoko Ono, Pink, Prince Harry, Joan Rivers, Anne Robinson, Bruce Springsteen, Barry White, Gene Wilder, Xzibit and Catherine Zeta Jones

We will return on a Wood Dog day,

Until then enjoy NOW!
