Bull before the storm?

Today is a quiet Metal Ox day, hence adding bull to a famous saying. It is the last day of the Pig month and being in a lull, is good for meditating or honouring ancestors, visiting friends, having a haircut and putting affairs in order.

Tomorrow sees the start of a Water Rat month, which will combine with the Water Dragon year to bring an absolute deluge. It also marks the start of a fifteen day season called “Big Snow” and as we are already experiencing cold temperatures in Europe, we can expect perhaps to see snow and storms over the next couple of weeks. If we add the effects of global warming which somewhat delays these seasons, there is a very good chance of a White Christmas. Cue for a song?

Speaking of Christmas, let’s return to the present, pun intended.  If Metal Ox is part of your horoscope, particularly if it is your day pillar, you are highly resourceful and well-liked by others. With great determination and drive, you can easily express yourself and cope well under pressure which helps you create abundance and prosperity, especially if you were born between January 6 and February 4. Famous celebrities include Orlando Bloom, Jim Carrey, Princess Caroline of Monaco, George Clooney, Billy Ray Cyrus, Caleb Followill, William Hague, Woody Harrelson, Peter Jackson, Nastassja Kinski, Heather Locklear, Kate Middleton, Eddie Murphy, Barack Obama and Meg Ryan.

There’s more, including zodiac compatibility, on our dedicated Metal Ox web page and we will return tomorrow on a raft, no bull!

Until then, enjoy moment of NOW!

A tail of two Piggies?

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times” is the start of the Dickensian classic of which today’s title parodies. However, being a “slow news” day, it also fits in two ways. Firstly, it’s an Earth Pig day in a Metal Pig month. Secondly, our daily blog translates the Chinese almanac and tells us which side of "lucky" each day falls.

Take today as an example; having two Pigs align or “meet” makes it a good day to see friends and is the first suggestion in today’s almanac. Furthermore, the relationship between their earth and metal elements can mean travelling, the only other recommended activity today.

Of course it’s also a “Tail” day in the 28 Lunar Mansions and is why I have alluded to one of the greatest tales ever told in English literature in our title. It has nothing to do with staring out of my office window looking upon one of Charles Dickens favourite cities thinking about travelling to the other…  Bonjour!

We will return tomorrow. Until then, enjoy moment of NOW!

Success; but can’t see the wool for the trees?

Excuse the pun, but what title would you derive if you had to put Wood and Sheep together? Being also a Success day in the 12 palace system, it’s a really good day.

The Chinese almanac continue to smile and recommends meditating or honouring ancestors, asking for blessings, visiting friends, taking a course, getting engaged, having an astrology reading, buying or making clothes, opening a  business and trading, refurbishing a home or office, laying foundations, fixing a roof, making wine or fermenting, buying or setting direction for your bed, hunting or setting up a tombstone as suitable activities.

Today's title alludes to being too close to something to see clearly. Consequently, if you are a wood person born in the Goat or Sheep month of July, you may not realise that the Goat or Sheep is your source of creativity and prosperity. Wood Sheep individuals make excellent investors and are probably among the most successful people in the banking or financial sectors. Is this you? Try a free Chinese horoscope to find out, then see our dedicated Wood Sheep web page to see how your own sign is affected.

On the subject of success, famous Wood Sheep celebrities include Carl Lewis, Brad Pitt (day), 50 Cent, Rowan Atkinson, Chow Yun-Fat, Kevin Costner, Benedict Cumberbatch, Willem Dafoe, Laurence Fishburne, Bill Gates, Whoopi Goldberg, Tom Hanks, Woody Harrelson, Lindsay Lohan, Nicolas Sarkozy, Maria Shriver, Jimmy Smits, Eddie Van Halen, Forest Whitaker and Bruce Willis.

We will return next Tuesday and until then, enjoy moment of NOW!

Give someone a leg up?

It’s a Wood Horse day and as wood signifies amongst many other things the leg, how could we choose any other title for today's blog? Mind you, the title means to help someone improve in a certain aspect of life and today it seems the universe is helping us all as it’s such an auspicious day.

Consequently, the Chinese almanac is positively grinning with its auspicious horseshoe symbol (also fitting) encompassing today's recommendations. They are  meditating or honouring ancestors, asking for blessings, visiting friends, travelling, getting married, exchanging gifts, having an astrology reading, buying or making clothes, emigrating, opening a  business and trading, refurbishing a home or office, laying foundations, fixing a roof, buying or setting direction for your bed or oven and setting up a tombstone.

Find out if Wood Horse is part of your horoscope with our free Chinese horoscope. Although whatever your sign, you should see our dedicated Wood Horse web page to see if you will win on the horses!

We will return tomorrow with a Wood Sheep day. Until then, enjoy moment of NOW!

Sharper than a serpent's tooth?

Although our title is a line from Shakespeare’s King Lear, it does sum up today's main points perfectly. Namely, it’s a Metal Snake day and although teeth are associated with the metal element, it’s also a “Broken” day in the Jian Chu (12 palace system). It’s not just Broken, its smashed, as this Snake day also clashes with the Pig, our monthly zodiac sign. Is this a case of “two wrongs don't make a right”? Not necessarily, if you have pain similar to that mentioned in our title, it’s a perfect day to find the proper treatment for your ills, not just dentistry.

Fixing what is broken is most definitely  the order of the day and the Chinese almanac further suggests refurbishment, especially filling cracks and smoothing paths in and around our homes.

If Metal Snake is in the day pillar of your Chinese horoscope, your body can “write cheques that your mind doesn’t want to cash”. Although, this creates confusion, it is easily balanced with the earth element. On the other hand, you tend to thrive under pressure and your emotions spur you onwards. You can also find good support from intimate friends. An analytical mind and an eye for detail help to build your reputation. Famous celebrities include George W. Bush, Angelina Jolie (day), Bono, Mel B, Naomi Campbell, Chow Yun Fat, Steven Gerrard, Enrique Iglesias, Olga Korbut, Bill Paxton, John C Reilly, Gabriela Sabatini, Brooke Shields and Stevie Wonder.

As we have some major projects to finish, as well as teaching some advanced Feng Shui classes, we will return on November 27th - a Water Dragon day.
Until then, enjoy moment of NOW!

Snap! Dragons?

This blog isn’t about flower arranging or affecting any reptiles, it’s simply a Metal Dragon day in a Dragon year and as that’s two of a kind; snap!

According to the Chinese almanac, two seems to be the theme of the day, as it recommends seeing friends or getting married as particularly suitable activities. Preparation also features prominently, either mentally by meditating or physically by having your hair done.

It’s also a good day for having an astrology reading, emigrating,  buying or setting direction for your oven, or setting up a tombstone. Not so good for moving earth or fishing though.

Our dedicated Metal Dragon web page will tell you the characteristics and compatibility of this Chinese zodiac sign and we will return tomorrow with a Metal Snake.
Until then, enjoy moment of NOW!
