What Winter Water?

Today’s new cycle starts with Water Monkey signifying power, performance and ultimately prosperity.

Today's Water Monkey marks one of this year’s high energy days and the official start of Winter in the Chinese almanac or “book of nature”. It certainly seems that most people have a spring in their step today!

Starting another essential energy cycle couldn’t begin with a better zodiac sign or pillar, with today's Water Monkey signifying power, presence and ultimately prosperity. Interestingly, the metal element associated with the Monkey also represents reform and government and when viewed with water, stability and going forward.

However, Metal also indicates constriction and constraint, so the Chinese almanac recommends fixing fences and putting our house in order to be able to grasp future opportunities.  Especially, as the water and metal elements present in today’s Water Monkey sign are extremely compatible, stability and friendship eventually benefits all.

Brown Rat meets White Rabbit

Today is New Years Eve in the Chinese calendar and being an Earth (brown colour) Rat day it will meet the Metal (white) Rabbit. In Chinese astrology the relationship between the Rat and Rabbit is called “punishing” and I hope this is not indicative of the New Year ahead. Actusaly, the water element of the Rat actually smooth’s the crushing conflict between metal and the wood of the Rabbit, and let us hope that it brings evolution instead. Allowing us to move from world chaos to global harmony, as they say, time, or astrology will tell.

The almanac states it is also good for meditation, asking for blessings, seeing friends, buying clothes, having a haircut, opening a business, trading or buying a bed.
